Commissions

I am open to commission for presentation pieces to mark special events like retirements, visiting dignitaries, birthdays, competition prizes and awards, etc.

  • A Commemerative Bowl presented to the city of Brussels to mark St. Patrick’s Day 2020
  • Presentation pieces for the Cork Institute of Technology to mark the retirement of senior managers. This included a piece to mark the retirement of Dr. Brendan Murphy, President of the CIT

]]> 47 Pate de Verre https://suzanneosullivan.ie/2018/04/20/pate-de-verre/ Fri, 20 Apr 2018 13:24:07 +0000 https://suzanneosullivan.ie/?p=22 I create sculptural pieces using the Pate de Verre technique.

First, I make a heat-proof mould as a structure. Next I create a paste of glass powder or granules and colouring. I then apply the glass paste to the mould, building it up bit by bit.

The piece is then transferred into the kiln and fired.

The glass melts and fuses into incredibly delicate shapes. Some of my pieces are often likened to frost or ice.
